chromosome number five.

at week five
our heartbeat begins
the (first of many innumerable beats)
and our blood pumps.

at week six
we form eyes/ears/nostrils/lips/elbows/and/toes.

oh my!

at week eight
our tongue is cast
apt to play the role of show and tell
to recant again and again
and also we web feet
a trellis
we become nuclear

at week nine
we print fingers.
on the surface of curves
our identity is framed?

at week ten
our eyelids fuse shut.

at week eleven
here we are made 'boigrrl'
savoir-fair
formulaic conception for roof repair

and now at lucky thirteen
functional breath
a momentary pause
a shift in frequency
the doppler effect.

at week fourteen
here come the hormones
chromosomal cues
twenty-three cobblestone and two criminal
number five.

COUP D' ETAT!

(ugh..tba... i'm getting bored)

built of disparate parts

a scandal.

i was too busy floundering in you
to get it right

you my think tank

postpositively
i work outside your borders

studying hydrography
and
deep-sea diving

just call me Cousteau.

with abyssal eye glasses like modern masks

seafaring.

perhaps
you were a child i once knew

a scanty striped sailor

capped with
wings of a bird
in lieu of arms

perhaps
you are a bagatelle

and i Elise
here to make aphoristic music

or

perhaps
you are a sailor god
a
barnacle bill

with
white roses for drift anchor

and an essence
to carry
until i turn 89

til' i lay down my head to die to die

when i lay down my head and die.
